About the Author

Neil Browne joined the BGSU faculty in 1968. He received his J.D. from the University of Toledo in 1981, his Ph.D. at the University of Texas in 1969, and his B.A. from the University of Houston in 1965. He is a Distinguished Teaching Professor of Economics at Bowling Green State University.
His major areas of academic interest are Economics and Philosophy, Critical Thinking, and the Economic Analysis of Law. He is the founder and director of the HONORS SCHOLARS Learning Community, a group of high-achieving students pledged to intellectual discovery and moral commitment. He is the co-author of 30 books and 140 professional journal articles.
His focus on critical thinking had its first published output in the 1970’s with the publication with Stu Keeley of Asking the Right Questions: A Guide to Critical Thinking. Since then, many of his books and articles have built on the questioning process developed in that first book.
